The King of Pop – Michael Jackson

Halloween is the event celebrated during this time of year. Pumpkins and trick or treat are commonly associated with this happening but when it comes to music, Thriller would always be one of the songs played during Halloween. This song was written and made popular by no other than the King of Pop himself, the late Michael Jackson.

Pop music and culture could never be what it is today without the influence of Michael. Most known for his white glove and moonwalk, the deceased superstar is really considered an icon in music.

Starting with a sibling group known as Jackson Five, Michael was the youngest member of their group but with his natural talent soon became the lead vocals of the group. Trained by their father, the Jackson Five slowly gained popularity and caught the limelight’s attention after countless small gigs in their hometown. The siblings then became one of the most popular and successful black pop or soul vocal groups in music history.

Having the powerful voice and the charisma that appealed to millions, solo success was inevitable. At 13, Michael launched his solo career alongside Jackson Five and by 1980s, Michael more popular than the group itself. Popularity has its downside and as success was slowly creeping his way to Jackson’s life, trouble existed between the siblings and their recording company.

Though much dispute and discussions were happening, success and fame was definitely there. Michael carried on with his solo career and continued to amaze the world with his chart-topping hits and albums. His dedication and passion for music was clearly shown in everything he did. His calling to entertain brought him to fame and evidently proved to be of great influence to a lot of pop singers nowadays. MJ’s legacy will always be remembered.
